This way one can watch the film and sort of assume "it happened".

But you raise a good point, the prisoners would not have kept silent about Rambo. 'm not sure they even got to know his name, though. None of the sequels has Rambo meet any of the people he rescued from Vietnam, which is again a missed opportunity.Tero Heikkinenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13784200871918377919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2474445673248923379.post-3097710618041135842020-11-12T20:37:24.345+02:002020-11-12T20:37:24.345+02:00The way Rambo III ignored the historic aftermath o...The way Rambo III ignored the historic aftermath of the previous film was a missed opportunity. Since Stallone was still on board with the screenplay, I was expecting a thematic full-circle like Rocky III, with John returning to the States as a celebrated national hero -- this, in deliberate, jarring contrast to that unemployed drifter figure getting hassled back in First Blood. Certainly any rescue of American MIAs from Vietnam would've been huge news in 1985, and it's doubtful those prisoners kept mum about Rambo's super-heroics to the media (as Murdock predicted). A mere presidential pardon wouldn't be enough.

Oh yeah, and I forgot about Force of Freedom. To see Rambo(!) turned into a kid-friendly toy/cartoon property so quickly after First Blood Part II was one of the more surreal bits of the late '80's. :DTom Gordonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05045067889443312117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2474445673248923379.post-39692650700220764942020-11-12T08:58:04.994+02:002020-11-12T08:58:04.994+02:00Stallone looks more and more like Aake Kalliala by...Stallone looks more and more like Aake Kalliala by age.Marqhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15852734643335571080noreply@blogger.com
